Teach & Mentor

We have the conviction that adults are life-long learners and our world needs more of us who are experts in learning, especially in transformative learning!  We also have the conviction that the most effective teachers and mentors are those who are conscious about their own learning while doing their work, and who transparently share their learning with those they are teaching or mentoring. We envision a Network teeming with interactive learning, teaching, and mentoring, in both informal and explicit roles.

Here are some of the explicit roles that are essential for ARINA's mission in the world to equip change agents with the internal and external resources they need for more enduring transformative work.

*   Peer reviewer

Every formal ARINA activity involves some kind of peer review for quality.

*   In our publishing efforts, we welcome reviewers who can employ a constructive, integral approach to that editorial function (see Read & Publish). The amount of editorial attention differs, depending on the items and where they are published.

*   Our Institutional Review Board has the responsibility to review all program and project designs for integral quality and ethical standards, and hires qualified reviewers on a modest stipend basis.

*   CyberMentoring sm

ARINA is pioneering a new profession designed to meet the unique needs and opportunities in the 21st Century. Our ARINA Room is the laboratory where we will introduce Associates to experiences with the first CyberMentors sm, and develop, research, and nurture this new profession.

*   Plan, evaluate, contribute, & think together

On behalf of Associates in the ARINA Network and all our work we welcome wide engagement by creative, reflective practitioners who are willing to offer constructive evaluations of efforts, including ARINA's, and contribute their talents to thinking and planning within the ARINA Network.

*   Publish

We encourage change agents to teach and mentor others through a variety of writing forms!

*   Training-the-trainers

We encourage people who have experienced our work and have the appropriate competencies to help us train others likewise. It is essential to extend this work as widely as possible, and ARINA has a commitment to training trainers-of-others in integral approaches for a variety of applications. Our objective is that every ARINA program will have such training associated with it. Check for these opportunities by clicking the home page What's NEW announcement link.

*   Design integral learning experiences

With ARINA's process approach, every event matters. Learning takes place over a series of events of various kinds that all together can result in the "A-ha!" of new insights. And we can never know which incident or experience will trigger an insight in another. Thus, we have a commitment to provide a space in Our ARINA Room where practitioners can participate in a range of contributions...

*   exchange their practical wisdom and experience of "what works" in specific cases

*   present their needs for new "how's" that work and seek kindred help

*   collaborate in designing learning experiences that respond to identified needs in individual, organizational, civic, and other kinds of social change efforts.

We welcome a potpourri of experience and creativity that addresses any mission-relevant need, from suggestions for short-term interventions shared with others to proposals to offer full courses or workshops.

*   Support the integration process at multiple scales of activity

ARINA is a small organization with a big vision and mission. Its holistic, processual approach depends on attracting people who both need and benefit from it, and who can support its functions in a variety of ways. People who share this vision and mission can support it by using ARINA, teaching and mentoring, and volunteering to help. Here are some ways to do that.

*   Make suggestions for features and improvements on this web site (and volunteer to help us implement them if you can!)

*   Be one of the Help Desk volunteers in Our ARINA Room.

*   Be one of the volunteer administrators in Our ARINA Room.

*   Investigate how you can partner with ARINA's mission.

*   Share your know-how in the ARINA Network.

*   Convert your mission-relevant dreams to integral project proposals.

*   Teach and mentor with us!
