Module 4

Do your learning with the original inventor of the process ... Sara Ross

How can you make sure that your decisions do not rest on erroneous, un-integral assumptions, oversights, and weak processes? Done well, decisions will not come back to haunt us, create new problems, or miss subtle or vital factors that sabotage them later. This module introduces you to how you can assure your individual or group decisions do not rest on erroneous assumptions and overlooked facts of life.

In addition to all who want to make the most effective decisions possible, people with exposure to integral theory, Spiral Dynamics* or to the world of "dialogue & deliberation" will be particularly glad to have this real-world application that opens practical, new territory in consulting, organizational, public policy, or activists' social change work.

This module provides a systematic method to frame integral decision-making. It introduces critical insights that transform our common assumptions. For those who need to recognize when a situation is complex beneath its surface, and decide about situations and future directions, this module is an essential starting point.

The introductory work in this module results in a draft of usable materials to address a real-world issue, and a replicable (with practice) method to apply to other issues. Contact us if you want ARINA to bring this workshop to you in-person!

Learning intentions at this introductory level

  1. Begin to understand "what's in the name" of an issue or decision

  2. Learn what kinds of decisions need integral framing

  3. Collaborate in framing a "typical" complex decision

  4. Understand why integral decision making requires framing

  5. Begin to understand what to do, with whom, and why
